Tough game tonight…..If you haven’t heard Phil Hughes is the latest member of the Yanks to be placed on the 15 day DL with a strained oblique. No word yet on who will be called up, my guess is Darrel Rasner though.

Final Score: 6 - 2 Tigers

Recap of the game

Wow, the injurybug has once again bitten the Yankees. A-Rod is expected to go on the 15 day DL with a strained quad. This is another huge loss for the Yankees and puts more pressure on the rest of the line up. But, as good as Morgan Ensberg and Jose Molina play, they will not ever in no way replace A-Rod and Posada, as they combined for 240 RBI last year. We’re going to have to get great starting pitching and get better on the offensive side which we are capable of.

Here’s the good news. We have claimed Chad Moeller off waivers since no team picked him up within the 10 days since the Yankees DFA’d him. He will be a much better backup catching option that Chris Stewart, as he wasn’t impressive at all yesterday, in no way.

Update, 7:47p.m.: Robby Cano, Dont ya know! Hopefully he’s showing signs of breaking out of his season long slump. Feels good to be back in NY!

Tough game tonight, but no one can expect to win when you leave 13 runners on base.

Final Score: 6 - 4 Tigers

 Recap of the game

Peter Abrahams , which you can also find a link to his blog in my blogroll, is Yankees beat writer for the Journal News, and is being accused of being Anti - Girardi by NYYFans.com. Phil Allard writes that because of Girardi’s hostile attitude toward the media he is using his very popular Blog, to try to get Yankee fans to hate Girardi just like him. PA heard about what Allard wrote and took it into his own hands. Tonight in his Gameday Thread, made sarcastic notes after each Update, for example:

From Pa’s GamedDay Thread:

UPDATE, 7:16 p.m.:0 x 3 with RISP in the first off a pitcher who seemed to be begging to give up a few runs. That’s 2 for 23 in the series. (Note: Please do not take this as some kind of commentary on the Yankees or part of some secret agenda. We’re just passing along a statistic that would seem to be of interest to educated readers).

UPDATE, 8:04 p.m.: They should give The Big G a blanket to smother the ball with. Then he could pick up the ball with the blanket and step on the bag. That would work better than the glove at this point. (Note: I am not actually suggesting this; it’s a joke. The comment was no way intended to besmirch Jason Giambi, the New York Yankees or Joe Girardi, all of whom I hold in the highest regard).

UPDATE, 8:20 p.m.:The Moose has done a great job for four innings but Aaron Laffey has been even better as the Yankees somehow have yet to get a hit. Laffey has retired 12 in a row. (Note: Laffey has in fact retired 12 in a row. This is a statistic and should not in any way offend certain Yankee fans or be seen as an indictment of the manager. I’m sure the Yankees are trying very hard).

UPDATE, 8:31 p.m.: The Moose has allowed two runs in his last 11 innings.

UPDATE, 8:42 p.m.:Guess I jinxed Mussina (Note: It wasn’t intentional. I would never want anything bad to happen to the Yankees). Now Albaladejo is warming up. Why did they bring Chris Britton up?

It’s actually pretty humours if you ask me, but who is? It’s also entertaining to see one Yankee blog take a hit at another, and the 2nd one responding but in a suddle way. NYY Fans can be doing this just to gain some attention and readers(which they have if that was their goal), but I’m taking Pete Abe’s side here. When you have your own Blog, you can give your opinion and whether your blog readers agree with that opinion or not is their choice. PA, keep doing what you do baby!

Notes: Johnny Damon is 13 of his last 32 with seven RBI and seven extra-base hits….Matsui is back in the line up after a 2 game rest: “I didn’t retire,” Matsui said.

Be back later with updates.

Update, 8:19p.m.: Some hard hit balls so far, but to no avail…Giambi seems to be really seeing the ball and smashing it. It’s just getting hit right at someone. Seems like thats been happening the whole year. Anyways in other news, Hedo Turkolu has won NBA most improved player, deservedly so and New Orleans coach Byron Scott has won NBA coach of the year, deservedly so as well.

Update, 9:01p.m.: Congrats, Jeet! You broke the longest streak of 9 games without a run. Yanks are winning 3-2 with a runner at 3rd and 2 outs. Anyways, in other news, could the Hawks upset the Celtics for a 2nd straight game?? Stay tuned.

Update, 9:38p.m.: Solod 1-2-3 inning by Farnsy. Maybe he’s making strides?

Nice win tonight. Joba and Mo are just so dominate it’s unblieveable.

Final Score: 5 - 2 Yankees

———————

Update, 10:52p.m.: Wow, Hawks just won their 2nd straight against KG and the Celtics. Now their going back to Boston though, they really don’t have any chance, but they do deserve a lot of credit for taking 2 from the Eastern Conference Champions.

Recap of the game

From the Gameday Thread:

BREAKING NEWS:

Update, 3:09p.m.: The NY Times is reporting Posada has a tear in his shoulder and will be heading to the Disabled List for the 1st time in his career. He will be seeing Dr. Andrews in Alabama and only players that might need surgery go to see him. This is a huge loss for the Yankees.

Some athletes that I know off the top of my head that Dr James Andrews has helped are NY Jets QB Chad Pennigton and just last week Nats closer Chad Cordero.

Here’s a link to Dr. Andrews site

———

This is a tough break for the Yankees as the injuiry bug has hit them hard over past couple weeks. Plus the Yankees only have one catcher now since they designated Chad Moeller for assignment. Of course they can get him back if no one calims him off waivers. Still, Posada was one of the most important players on the Yankees last year if not the most important and this is just a huge blow to them and puts more pressure on the rest of the offense, especially A-Rod

Posada’s reaction:

“It’s very disappointing,” Posada said. “The biggest disappointment in my career.”

Posada was almost crying as he spoke. “It’s not getting any better and we have to find out what really it is,” he said. “The MRI showed a strained muscle and I think it’s more than that. I want to find out really what it is.”

The classy Posada also added:

“It’s really disappointing to work really hard and not feel good,” he said. “I worked really hard to be back at it. I want to apologize to the Yankees because they signed me to a good contract.”

Chris Stewart will be called up from AAA SWB to be the back up catcher to Jose Molina

Feel free to post a comment and weigh in on this.

Update, 2:28p.m.: As expected, Wang and Sabathia are both dealing.

BREAKING NEWS:

Update, 3:28p.m.: Wang is dealing, and this will most definitely be his last inning because he is well over the 100 pitch count.

What a game, classic baseball right there. Both Wang and Sabathia gave it all they got, but 1 mistake by Sabathia cost them the game.

Final score: 1 - 0

——————-

The Hawks are just embarrassing the Celtics, putting on a 3 point clinic. Hard to believe I said it was against the Celtics, I know. J-Smooth is a monster and rookie Al Horford seems like one of the leaders of the team, after Josh Smith made a 3 and the Celtics called a time out, he was all pumped up and Horford just calmed down and I’m sure told Smith it’s not over, keep playing tough……27 assists by the Hawks tonight. Wow.

Mike Bibby is clutch. Just as you think the Celtics are climbing back in the final minutes, Bibby hits 2 big shots…..Wonder who his sister is rooting for, she’s married to sharp shooter Eddie House of the Boston Celtics.

Uh oh, you see Horford smack talking Pierce. He should have got a T. Pierce was pissed and started walking over to the Hawks bench only to see injuired, but fan favorite Celtic Brian Scalabrine to restrain him. Pierce is going to go off in Game 4.

Hawks win! Celebrate while you can Hawk fans, good luck in Boston.

Off to the Rockets/Jazz game!

Notes: As expected, Shelley Duncan is back on the team. No word yet on who Shelly Duncan is replacing, either Albaladejo or Brittion is my guess….. Wow, look at the line up. No Cano, Matsui, Posada and Abreu……Molina is 0-7 since returning from his injuiry.

Happy NFL Draft Sunday everyone!

Updates & notes on the way.

Update, 3:52p.m.: Congrats Jets fans, you got Vernan Gholston. From what I have heard he’s a great pass rusher but takes too many plays off. Anyways, it was Billy Traber that was optioned to AAA to bring up Shelley Duncan. Now the Yankees don’t have a lefty or a long man in the pen. Also, Joba has a hamstring injuiry. Girardi said he could still pitch today, though I am not sure how much of that is true….. Pats just traded there #7 pick to the Saints in which they took Sedrick Ellis.

Here you can watch the NFL Draft live if you’re TV is being occupied with the Yankees game

Update, 5:09p.m.: I hope I am not getting ahead of myself but Jeet seems to be breaking out of his slump, he’s 2-2 today(2 singles). It could just be that he loves hitting here……Anyways, IPK is struggling once again but rebounded nicely in the 3rd after a rough 2nd inning.

Update, 5:35p.m.: As soon as it looks like we have something going, we just simply get out. This really does kill the momentum. If IPK can hold the score where it is and maybe gives us this inning and the 6th, that would be great.

Update, 6:02p.m.: HUGE pinch hit by Posada. Bases clearing triple. Most hitters on the Yankees would have had an inside the park home run on that. Anyways, we’re back in the game, but now comes the scary part: Hawkins has to pitch shutout ball.

Update, 6:15p.m.: Tim Mccarver and Joe Buck said it best, WHAT AN INNING! Good thing the Yankees came out unscathed. Past 2 years crazy things have happened when the Yanks & The Tribe face off.

Update, 6:54p.m.: Wedge had every reason to be fired up there, terrible call by the 2nd base umpire. We got a big break there. Anyways, we learned Cano could make it as an actor one day.

Update, 7:11p.m.: Ahhh, Jeter couldn’t come through this time. Hopefully Ohlendorf can hold The Tribe and get it to extras……Meanwhile, check out Shelley Duncan’s twin

Unfortunate Update, 7:27p.m.: There will be 2nd guessers who will say they should have put Mo or Joba in there in the 9th, but if Ohlendorf got out of it no one wouold say anything. Girardi wanted to save Mo for the 10th which is understandable. Kind of a heartbreaking loss. Tomorrow the Yankees will try to end the 3 game losing skid.

Final score: 4 - 3 Indians

Recap of the game

Found this article through RAB , Phil Mushnick says Sterling “may be the worst broadcaster in professional sports.” I don’t agree that he’s the worst broadcaster in all of sports, but he’s not too good. Sad to say he’s been doing this for 20 years and if he has the choice will do it another 20 years.
